Joseph F. Richburg currently serves as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel for CBS Corporation, focusing on litigation matters including defamation, right of publicity, sports litigation and copyright law.  Joe was actively involved in a high profile copyright litigation that resulted in a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2014.  Prior to joining CBS, Joe worked at the New York offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. 

Earlier in his career, Joe worked on Capitol Hill for his hometown Congressman, Rep. Donald M. Payne where he served as a speechwriter on domestic policy and also functioned as Rep. Payne’s liaison to the Education and Workforce Committee. 

In addition to his service on the Board of PALS, Joe serves on the New York Advisory Council for the National Democratic Institute, and is an active member of the Council of Urban Professionals. 

Joe holds an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.  At Michigan Law, Joe served as Executive Editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law, and also worked at the South African Human Rights Commission in Johannesburg as part of an externship program.
