Mentor-Mentee Matching

PALS® is best known for its one-on-one mentor program which matches minority law students with volunteer lawyers who serve as mentors.  Mentors can be any level of seniority and in any practice area.  Mentors provide support and advice on how to handle the unique challenges confronting minority law students during law school and early career development.

PALS® is encouraged by the popularity of its one-on-one mentor program,  however for the past few years, PALS® has been so popular with law students that we have been unable to provide a mentor for each student who requested one.  Preference in assigning mentors is given to first-year law students.  PALS® attempts to match students with mentors based on students’ practice area interest. If you participated in the PALS® program as a student, we especially encourage you to continue with PALS® as a mentor.

Highlights of changes to the Mentoring Program

PALS has recently re-launched the Mentoring Program! Mentees are invited to apply for our program on-line at the Mentee Sign Up Form and applicants will be required to submit a brief essay to complete their application (the essay question will be emailed once the on-line application is received).

New York City area attorneys who wish to serve as mentors should complete the Attorney Signup Form.

If you have previously served as a mentor (or signed up as an attorney on our site) in the past and you are interested in mentoring for the 2011 - 2012 school year, please email info@palsprogram.org to request a mentee.

Attorneys and law student participants will be required to review the PALS Mentoring Program Manual and sign a participation agreement.  Click below for both documents:
